Pyu Text

Myanmar's three 1st Millennium cities Halin, Beikthano-myo, and Sri Ksetra are on track to become UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A UNESCO delegation will be visiting the sites next month. http://www.elevenmyanmar.com/tourism/3315-unesco-to-inspect-3-ancient-pyu-era-cities-for-world-heritage-list)

The photo shows an example of the "Pyu" script, which is a variant of the Pallava script of South India. Irrawaddy valley Buddhism was strongly influenced by South Indian Buddhism during the mid-1st Millennium.
